SIGNALLING BY FATTY ACID DERIVATIVES AND
SPHINGOLIPIDS IN HEALTH AND DISEASE

Project Overview

The projects focus on the regulation of cellular responses such as proliferation, differentiation and cell integrity and have been divided into three major research areas: (i) inflammation and pain research, (ii) regulation of metabolism, and (iii) immune responses and tumor development. Projects will address specific questions such as (i) how do lipid signalling molecules regulate gene expression in acute and chronic inflammation and in the resolution of inflammation?; (ii) how do lipids modulate epigenetic mechanisms?; (iii) how do lipids and matrix molecules interact in cellular signalling?, and (iv) how do lipids modulate protein signalling cascades in cell death and disease?
